How United Martial Arts Centers Helped me Develop Leadership
To be a leader is not to command, but to be a guide. UMAC has taught me
that. Throughout my first year at UMAC I watched the higher ranks above
me closely. They always gave and give their full enthusiasm, support,
generosity and dedication to not only UMAC students, but visitors as well. To
know these people for year and see their moral stance is just as equally
strong in the community as in the Dojang. They display patience, understanding,
and encouragement. They want to be positive a influence not just in the Dojang,
but to also carry that responsibility and integrity throughout all aspects of
their lives. That's what I strive to be everyday.
I want to help others by guiding them to a pure positive mental attitude
just as my peers have for me. There are literal leaders of course, ones who
have to make challenging decisions, but the best kind of leader is the one that
is for team effort and clearing the path to a resolution that is within sight.
Since becoming a student at UMAC I feel I have become a voice of reason and
inspiration to so many people in my life. I now know that I have the motivation
to say "YES I CAN" with any challenge I meet. By being this positive
person (which once I was not) I am can find the words for others to help others
persevere.
Without UMAC, I wouldn't be a better example to my loved ones, coworkers,
friends, and acquaintances. It is an honor to be on The Leadership Team and
apply all the teachings from my fellow training instructors, instructors,
masters, and my grand master at every available opportunity in my life. The
efficient ways I have learned to inspire a healthy mind, body, and spirit are
unparalleled to anything else I have been are part of. With this advancement in
my training I vow to pursue my quest to be the best example I can be in and
outside of The Dojang.
Sincerely and Gratefully,
Training Instructor Vega
