If you
have not heard another young person (25 years old) from Warwick overdosed and
died from heroin this past week. I can
tell you that research shows death’s from heroin overdoses increasing
exponentially over that past 3 years.

Having
had literally thousands of children come through our doors at United Martial
Arts Centers over the past 22 years my wife and I have had the opportunity to
meet and get to know these children very well and we care about their
wellbeing.

and I are very concerned about the direction our society is taking with the
increased acceptance among our youth with the use of drugs such as heroin.

being said having your child involved in a program that helps them develop an “IDENTITY”
that is powerful enough for them to say to themselves “I am a Black Belt and
Black Belts don’t use drugs” can save
their lives but also deter their experimenting with drugs. Also being surrounded with Instructors who
are positive role models at a martial arts school gives kids mentors to look up
to.

start to get push back about coming to class and continuing training BEWARE…this
could be a RED Flag. We often see this
occur at about 12-13 year old. This is
also the time when most children begin experimenting with drugs. The key is keeping your child involved in an
activity that promoted health and wellness.
