When you think of most martial arts schools you think of punching, kicking and fighting. You don’t normally think about selflessness, charity and community. United Martial Arts Centers embodies compassion, goodwill and generosity. “When my wife Teresa and I opened the doors to UMAC almost 20 years ago we made a decision to give back to the community we live in” states Grand Master Edmund Ciarfella Jr. President and CEO of UMAC. Every year for the past 20 years UMAC has done fundraisers for D.A.R.E. Child Help, M.D.A and the Warwick Food Pantry.
This Holiday season UMAC is going to hit it hard and give back in a big way.
First, our goal is to do 1000 acts of Kindness between now and January 1st 2014. Every time a student does something kind for another person we will put a red or green Helping hand on the wall of the school. Our goal is to have 1000 red and green hands on the wall by the end of the year.
Secondly, Friday November 8th we are holding an Extreme Dodge Ball Night at UMAC and admission is a donation to the Warwick Food Pantry.
Finally, UMAC is offering a special holiday gift a “Belt in a Bag” Two weeks of Classes, a white belt, and a drawstring equipment bag for a $5 donation. This year we have very exciting news many local businesses have gotten on board and have made additional contributions to the “Bag.” Fetch Bar and Grill 10% off any Dinner, Village Billards Free Drink with a Pool table rental, La Petite Cuisine Free Crepe, Apple a Day 1 Hour of Organization, Sunny’s nail Salon 10 % off nail treatments, Giant Copy 10% off T – Shirt order, and many more. This brings the value of the Belt in the Bag to $500.00 for a $5 donation to the Warwick Food Pantry. The money will go towards buying a local family in need a holiday dinner and gifts.
